Boy does this one have a story.  She 's a
wonderful solid foxtrotting mare with a
great pedigree, wonderful gait, gorgeous
build, and black underneath the grey.
However, she came through a sale to a
friend of mine, and was not represented
accurately.  My friend could no longer
take care of her, so here she is.  What
makes her special??  She's completely
blind at 5 years of age.
She was put through the sale as
having a "slight spot on her right eye",
and  medicine to accompany her.
When my friend got her, both eyes
were white, and the mare was almost
completely blind.  She requires a
special area that she feels safe in, and
does incredibly well for her situation.
The biggest issue was trust.  She had
no idea who I was, or what I was
doing with her.
She finally understands now, and trusts me.
New situations are still scary, but this mare
rides well under saddle.  I guess I was lucky in
getting a very nice mare that fits the breeding
program, because she's not going anywhere.  I
wouldn't trust others to care for her in the way
that she needs
Pictured above is her first foal by Danney's
Pride of Princess, and I'm happy to have Liberty
as a broodmare here if she produces like this.
This little girl is named after an old blues song
"Eyesight To The Blind".  And she brought
eyesight to her mommy when she was born.  I've
never seen a mare's world revolve around a foal
so much.
And, she is one of the best foal sitters we have.
She barely draws the line at nursing the others,
but you can find her every night standing guard
over the weanlings as they sleep.  There's a great
irony in it since she's blind, but her ears never
miss a thing.  She's currently open, as we debate
what stallion to breed her to.
